The challenge
Heritage sites carry centuries of context that a plaque can’t convey. Visitors stand in front of a monument with no way to see what it once was, who built it, or why it mattered. The opportunity was to layer that story directly onto the physical place — on-site, in the moment.
What we did
We built an augmented-reality experience that recognizes a monument and overlays immersive, location-aware learning:
- On-site recognition so the experience triggers in front of the real structure, not in a generic viewer.
- Layered storytelling — reconstructions, timelines, and narration that reveal the site’s history in place.
- A performance-first build tuned for real devices in real outdoor conditions, where bandwidth and battery are constraints, not afterthoughts.
What we did differently
Most “AR heritage” demos work in a lab. We optimized for sunlight, shaky hands, and spotty signal — recognition that holds up at the site, storytelling paced for a standing visitor, and a build that doesn’t melt a phone battery before the tour ends.
The outcome
A working AR product that turns a passive visit into an interactive lesson — demonstrating immersive, on-site learning as a genuine engagement channel for cultural and educational sites.
